Matthew 25 Reality Tour on Immigration

Matthew25 Tours

Join us on Saturday, October 13, 10am-2pm, for our third Matthew 25 Reality Tour. This time we will gather together with our sisters and brothers who are recent immigrants here, and ask, "Lord, when did we see you a stranger and welcome you?" We will share stories, Bible Study, prayer, lunch, and ideas for action.

We will meet at St. Joseph's Church, 582 Hope St., in Mountain View. The event is free but registration is required (and child care is available but must be requested in advance).

Contact Diana Gibson at diana@councilofchurches-scc.org or call 408-297-2660 for more information.

What are Matthew 25 reality tours?

Are you concerned about hunger, homelessness, medical care, justice for workers, jails and prisons, and the environment in our San Francisco Bay Area?

  • Would you like to hear stories of real people's experience with these struggles, and then read scripture, reflect together and pray about what God is calling us to do?
  • Is your church thinking of a study around one of these, or related, topics, and you'd like to learn more?

If so, Matthew 25 Reality Tours are for you! During each tour, we will focus on one concern and dialog with people or communities who struggle with this issue in their own lives. We will share a meal, Bible Study, discussion, prayer, and plan for action.

Who can participate?

Youth (middle school and above) and adults are all encouraged to join a tour. We are especially interested in getting a good mix of spiritual leaders and laity. The event is open to people of all faith traditions and faith journeys. Tours are 4 hours in length, occur quarterly, and are free of charge although any donations are gratefully accepted to help defray program and staff costs.

You will receive an information packet that gives you additional background and suggestions for ways you can engage further.

Matthew 25 Reality Tour - Fall, 2006 - "Lord, when did we see you a stranger and welcome you?"

On Saturday, Oct. 14th, 2006, the Council of Churches hosted the first of our quarterly Matthew 25 Reality Tours. We ate, studied, talked and prayed with the Community Homeless Alliance Ministry (CHAM) in San Jose, seeking together to be faithful to the Christ in the midst of us today. We shared Bible Study, stories, reflections and dreams with the people of CHAM, learning from this community about homelessness and related issues.
